DIONICIA ARREDONDO GONZALEZ
Dionicia Arredondo Gonzalez, 90, of Tulare, California, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. She was born on December 30, 1934, in Texas, where she was raised before moving to California in 1964.
In 1953, Dionicia married the love of her life, Valeriano Castro Gonzalez, with whom she shared many years of devotion before his passing. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Enedina Gonzalez; her sons, Valeriano Gonzalez and Sixto Gonzalez; her grandchildren, Jennifer Avina and Michael Avina III
Dionicia is survived by her sister, Isabel Galvan of Texas, and her beloved children: sons Juan Diego Gonzalez of Santa Maria and Martin Gonzalez of Fresno; daughters Magdalena Gonzalez of Tulare, Barbara Betancourt of Bakersfield, Sylvia Magaña of Porterville, Evangelina Rios of Bakersfield, Lucia Rivera of Porterville, and Bonnie Gonzalez of Tulare. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A woman of strong Catholic faith, Dionicia prayed the Rosary daily and was a devoted member of the Guadalupanas and Our Lady of Fatima Group. She also served as a catechism teacher, passing on her faith and values to younger generations.
She will be remembered for her many passions: crocheting, tending to her cactus, enjoying cardinals, Pink Panther, and playing games like Yahtzee, Skip-Bo and games on her phone. She loved cooking for her family, especially her capirotada, tamales, homemade tortillas, famous chicken tacos and stuffing. Dionicia’s playful spirit brought laughter to her family as she enjoyed joking around and sharing stories from her life.
Meeting her made an impact on everyone she met. She touched many lives with her nurturing but fiesty, loving spirit and will be remembered as an independent, strong woman whose faith and strength inspired her family.
Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, traveling and playing with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Her love, warmth, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be on Wednesday September 10, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm with Rosary starting at 6pm at Peer-Lorentzen 132 W Kern Ave, Tulare, CA 93274
Church service will be Thursday September 11, 2025 @10am at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 954 South O Street, Tulare then following to Tulare Cemetery 900 E. Kern, Tulare, CA 93274
Reception at Tulare community center 830 South Blackstone, Tulare, from 12:30pm to 3pm.
