MARGIE ROUTH

Margie R. Williams Holland Routh, 94, of Farmersville, CA, passed away on March 20, 2024, at Visalia Post-Acute Care (Redwood Springs), Visalia, CA, surrounded by her children. She was born on October 24, 1929, the very day the stock market crashed, signaling the start of the Great Depression. She would later say that her birth changed the world! In fact, it did, in so many beautiful ways. Born in Russellville, AR, she was the third daughter of the late Harold and Delphia Tate Williams. The family moved from Arkansas to Casa Grande, AZ, where she graduated from Casa Grande High School in 1947. She was a member of West Visalia Church of Christ, Visalia, CA, where she used her rich alto voice to sing praises to her Lord and Savior. She retired from K-Mart after working many years as a cashier and bookkeeper.

Margie lived for many years in Tulare and Farmersville, CA, where she formed many friendships and lasting relationships in those communities. She was always ready with a big smile or a kind word, and had a great sense of humor, which was passed down to her from her father. She was not a woman of great stature, but she had the biggest heart. If you knew Margie as a friend, you knew a true friend, one who would help without needing to be asked, and pray without needing to know what to pray for. She loved unconditionally.

She had three children by her first husband, Herman Holland: Larry Holland (Tammie) of Middleburg, FL, Sandra Schafer (George) of Visalia, CA, and James Holland (Mary) of Merced, CA. She had eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers (Lyle, Lealus Jay, Donald, Harold Wayne, and Larry) and two sisters (Lorene Smith, and Virgie Posey).

A graveside service will be held at Tulare District Cemetery on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice.
