Born on March 24, 1943, in Ixtlahuacán del Río, Jalisco, Mexico, Maria Refugio Gonzalez lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to both her family and her faith. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Maria passed away on November 28, 2024, at the age of 81 in Visalia, California. Her life was a tapestry of warmth woven with threads of kindness and the lovely colors of a gentle spirit.Maria was truly a beacon of selflessness. Her smile and her laughter, which often filled the rooms of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, will always be cherished. Maria was a proud member of the Guadalupanas, and her faith played a central role in her life, guiding her actions and helping her contribute richly to her community.
Her family was the cornerstone of her world. Survived by her loving husband, Miguel Ramírez Gonzalez, Maria leaves behind a legacy that stretches far and wide through her seven children, Javier, Mario, Josefina, José Luis, Jesus, Miguel, and Angel. She embraced each one of her 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with the same nurturing and caring spirit that defined her character. Maria’s family is vast, beautiful, and ever-growing, nourished by her enduring love.To know Maria was to be touched by her amazing sense of humor. She had the unique gift of uplifting any gathering, making those around her feel at ease with her gentle laugh and kind-hearted teasing. Her generosity knew no bounds—whether through a homemade meal or a comforting word, Maria’s warmth was a testament to the deep love she had for those around her.
As we gather to remember Maria, we invite you to join us at her funeral service on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Rita’s Catholic Church. It will be a moment to celebrate a life lived with grace and love. Rest in peace, dear Maria —your spirit remains forever a guiding light for us all.
