CHARLOTTE IRENE HARGIS
It is with profound love and gentle sorrow that we announce the passing of Charlotte Irene Hargis on March 26, 2025 in Tulare, California at the age of 84. She graced our lives with a luminous spirit that touched everyone she met.
Charlotte was born on November 25, 1940 in Louisiana and lived a childhood of outdoor adventure in Northern California. A devoted wife, Charlotte supported her husband, Harvey S. Hargis, in all of his endeavors. Together, they made their home in Tulare where they raised four children, imbuing them with the same principle, strength, and dedication that defined her every day. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents William and Iona Burns, husband Harvey Hargis, daughter Cynthia Cebelak, grandson Sean Hargis, sisters Grace and Audrey Singleton, and half brother Robert Bryant.
Her legacy lives on through her surviving children—two daughters, Rhonda Adams and Norma Scalia, and son, Troy Hargis—and the 7 grandchildren and their children, as well as her sister Darolyn Gaylor, brother Sam Burns, half sister Sherry Kelly, and half brother Gaylan Bryant, who continue to honor her memory with every smile, every story, and every act of kindness. A woman of unwavering faith, she volunteered in the church and was a pillar of her community, always ready to offer a helping hand or a word of wisdom.
Charlotte celebrated life with a vibrant energy that was as infectious as it was inspiring. Whether it was summer concerts, scenic drives through the countryside, trips to the coast, walks in the park, board games with the grandkids, or making a spontaneous run for ice cream, she embraced every moment with passion and gratitude. She especially loved family gatherings—a time when her radiant laughter and generous heart brought everyone closer together.
She was a compassionate soul, a strong and determined woman with an appreciation for beauty and an endearing sense of humor. In her own words, “Don’t be sad when I go. Know that I got my wings, that I am soaring high and am with my Father in heaven.” These words now echo as a comforting promise to all who loved her.
We celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life filled with faith, joy, and a boundless love for family. We take solace in the belief that she now soars on angel wings, embraced by eternal love and light, watching over us until we meet again.
May her memory forever be a blessing, and may the legacy of her spirit inspire us to live our lives with the same passion and love that she so generously shared.
