VIRGINIA MARLYN BENNETT
Virginia Bennett, of Tulare, California, passed away March 21, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born to Theodore “T.A.” and Emma McMaster, and was raised and educated in Chowchilla, graduating from Chowchilla High School in 1950. She married Lewis Bennett in Chowchilla in 1953. After marrying, the couple returned to Tulare to make their home.
Virginia was the wife of a dairyman and farmer for over 40 years. She raised their seven children, then worked as a CNA (certified nursing assistant) for 15 years, including at a convalescent hospital. After retirement, she became a Pink Lady at the Tulare District Hospital for 10 years. She was a member of the Tulare First Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile as well as a member of Order of Eastern Star No. 94, South San Joaquin of Tulare for over 50 years serving as Worthy Matron in 1975 and 2003, Grand Representative to Arkansas in 1988 and 1989, and as Deputy Grand Matron in 1993.
Virginia is survived by seven children, Louisa Bowron (Art), Tulare; Bonnie Groshelle, Kalispell, MT; Patricia Shaw (Gene), Tulare; Michael Bennett (Crystal), Tulare; Barbara Weeks, Woodlake; Carl Bennett (Michelle), Tulare; and Harold Bennett, Tulare; as well as 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Bennett; brother, Richard McMaster; son, Edwin Bennett; and great-grandson, Forrest Groshelle.
Viewing will be Sunday, March 30th, 4-7 p.m. at Peers-Lorentzen Funeral Service, 132 W Kern Ave, Tulare. Graveside services will be held on March 31st, 10 a.m., Tulare Public Cemetery, 900 E Kern Ave, Tulare, CA. Remembrances may be made to American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, or Valley Oak SPCA.
